Built in 1965 to preserve and display the precious Dead Sea Scrolls, the world’s oldest and richest collection of biblical texts, the Shrine of the Book is a museum-cum-sanctuary conveying a deep spirituality, and constituting a point of reference for contemporary architecture.
Forty years after its inauguration, it has been restored and its furnishing completely renewed to offer the extremely delicate scrolls the best possible conditions of conservation and display while perfectly respecting the original layout.
