A masterpiece among masterpieces and emblem of Italian Renaissance art and of the Louvre, Leonardo da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa” has since 2005 returned to its original positions in the large Salle des Etats, restored and transformed to give the painting the greatest guarantee of protection and visibility.

The cabinet made for the picture combines exceptional engineering and construction features with formal elegance: “the result is in itself a prototype, an object without equal in terms of aesthetics, functionality, security and micro-climate control” (Michel Antonpietri, Louvre).
