An almost wholly new arrival in the panorama of Roman museums, this museum – an introduction to the museum of the city – exclusively displays material resulting from excavations effected and undertaken scientifically in recent decades. The guiding criterion of the exhibition is the concept of culture as relationship between man and environment and thus as an organic system of inter-related elements.
The criteria for the display foresaw information panels being reduced to the indispensable minimum, an extensive use of audio-visual displays, locations in which so see multimedia presentations of specific themes and the rotation of the materials on show, added to by other items emerging from new investigations.
