This gallery illustrates the history of the miniature in Britain from its first appearance in the court of Henry VIII in 1520 to its decline in the 19^th century with the advent of photography.

Seventeen classic display cases with wooden details present 150 portrait miniatures, while two are dedicated to the materials and techniques of painting portrait miniatures on parchment and ivory.
